Hey, I made some money off of all this! But it wasn’t my blog that brought the money in. At least not at first anyway. It was my Instagram account. Jeff, founder and CEO of new travel website walkli.com, somehow stumbled across my Instagram account and liked what he saw. From my Instagram profile, Jeff linked to my blog and the liking continuing. Soon, Jeff was in touch with me, and I agreed to create content for his site to help get it off the ground. And he paid me for it!
Walkli is a crowd-sourcing site where users create walking tours of cities around the world. Based on my travel experience, Jeff and I agreed I’d create 2 walking tours each for San Francisco, Berlin, and Amsterdam. (Boston also seemed like a natural choice for me, but Jeff is based in Boston, so he’s got that covered.) You can take a look at the 6 walks I came up with. (Please note that for the time being, the site only works on a computer and you can’t access it on your smartphone for now.)
Now I just need to try out the walks myself! Of course I’m still too busy doing my regular sightseeing tours of San Francisco. (And so far, 2017 has been a fantastic year out and about in the City by the Bay, with in-depth explorations of Golden Gate Park and Haight-Ashbury.)
Jeff really loved the walks I came up with, and he decided to interview me. So now I’m a true travel-media star. I’ll try not to let it go to my head. Please check out the interview and let me know what you think! (Once again, for now, you have to access the website on a computer.)
