You bet I started out the 2017 local sightseeing season with a chocolate croissant!
Later in the day, I had a pineapple snack at the California Academy of Sciences. It was ridiculously expensive. For lunch, I got a cheese pizza and, according to my notes, a mango lassi. I don’t remember the lassi at all, but it’s one of my favorite treats from India!
Finally, for the main event of the culinary portion of the day, I had dinner at the Beach Chalet–dinner with a view of the Pacific. For starters, I had Baja shrimp ceviche. My mouth is watering looking at this now, over 3 years later.
For the equally mouth-watering main course, did I have crab-stuffed Idaho rainbow trout or local Petrale sole meunière? I don’t remember which one it was. Or maybe it was the chef’s fish special, in which case I really don’t know what it was! Whatever it was, the roast mushrooms with thyme and garlic made it even better.
Overall, a very auspicious start to the season’s dining!
Oh right. After dinner, I took 2 buses to get to Three Twins Ice Cream for the first ice cream of the season. When I got off the 2nd bus, I was more than disappointed to see they were closed, despite their posted opening hours. So I went back a week later.
I got a cone of the chocolate orange confetti. It was pretty good. But I was still annoyed!
