Before heading off to the San Francisco Zoo, I grabbed a quick bite at Peet’s Coffee in downtown San Francisco. I don’t remember what I got, but I remember there were service issues. I had lunch at the zoo. I don’t remember what I had there either. Apparently I did not take very good notes on Day 3. And I didn’t take enough food pictures either.
I had a snack at the Legion of Honor in the afternoon. It looks like a key lime pie treat to me. As much as I’m addicted to chocolate, key lime pie is my favorite dessert.
Fortunately, dinner was fully documented. I had dinner at Cliff House. Cliff House is a historic restaurant perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Like Lands End, it’s part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. As you can see, I started off with the spicy fried calamari.
For the main course, I had the pan seared Alaskan halibut filet with clams, gigante beans, and pesto. I mean, just look at it. (The dish was usually served with asparagus, but I was having none of that. Ick.)
Well, that was just great!
After dinner, I took the bus to halfway between Lands End in the northwestern corner of San Francisco and the zoo in the southwestern corner. From there, it was a several-block walk to Polly Ann Ice Cream. I don’t remember what flavor I got. (I was really bad with the notes that day.) But I do remember that the shop was pretty dirty. I remember the ice cream itself was wasn’t bad, no matter what the flavor was. But there’ll be no need for me to head all the way across San Francisco to get ice cream there in the future. (I had to take 2 buses to get home.)
So it wasn’t a perfect end to the day. But it was a pretty incredible day!
