Saint Kitts and Nevis is the smallest country in the Americas. It’s also the newest, having won its independence from the UK in 1983. Other than landing on Saint Kitts, I spent all my time in the country on Nevis, the smaller of the 2 islands. Every year from 1999 to 2004, I had work to do at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort there. The best part of staying on Nevis was getting off the Four Seasons property and exploring all over the island. There are many smaller, more charming hotel properties around the island. There is history–Alexander Hamilton was born there in 1755. And there’s so much good food to be eaten. From the Four Seasons, you can walk right up the beach to Sunshines, a legendary beach bar. It’s really not too much more than a shack. You can get fabulous grilled seafood and quench your thirst with the notorious house drink, the Killer Bee. Sunshine himself will greet you.
