I had a couple hours of transit in the morning to get to my 1st destination on Day 2. No time for breakfast. I had lunch at the visitor center in Yangmingshan National Park. They had a limited menu and they were out of what I wanted, so I got the golden fried pork donburi. Not what I wanted, it was okay.
Back in the city that night, I had planned on going to a Japanese place for dinner. The Japanese lost Taiwan after World War II, but they left behind a legacy of Japanese cuisine. But before heading out for dinner, I discovered that there was a yakitori place not far from where I had been planning to go. I loved getting yakitori, chicken skewers, in Japan when I was in the Navy. So I kept with Japanese cuisine, but chose to go for my old favorite. The yakitori was a little different from what I was used to. The chicken came without green onions and peppers.
BUT, that wasn’t a problem. They had a whole menu of items on skewers. So I ordered corn on the skewer too.
And of course a bowl of rice.
It was sort of like a sushi place. I sat at the counter by the open kitchen, and just ordered as many individual items as I felt like. I finished up with the green pepper that usually comes right along with the chicken.
And then dessert. Which I don’t really remember. I likely walked past a coffee shop after dinner on the way to the subway and decided to get something sweet. Looks good, doesn’t it? Rich!
