I arrived in Taichung and got a snack at the train station. A croissant, of course.
I had arrived on the high-speed train from Taipei. I actually had to catch another train to get to the center of the city. So why not get more carbs at the next train station? This time I got something called a milk stick.
Finally, back in Taipei that evening, I had a real meal. And it was another traditional Taiwanese specialty. I got hongshao at one of Taiwan’s most beloved noodle house, Yongkang Beef Noodles. Hongshao refers to the spicy red broth that the braised chunks of beef are swimming in. It was superb. And Yongkang Beef Noodles is another total hole-in-the-wall type of place that I love to get good local food in.
