I started off Day 7 by getting to the Taj Mahal at the crack of dawn. Seeing the Taj Mahal made it a day like no other in my entire life. After my visit, I had a late breakfast at a cute little place beyond the Taj’s southern gate. The relaxing atmosphere and delicious food made sure the day kept on being a good one.
For my post-Taj breakfast, I had a cheese & masala (Indian spice) omelette with a side of toast with butter. How cute is it that the toast comes neatly wrapped!
I washed it down with a papaya lassi (yogurt shake). That looks so refreshing, I wish I had one right now.
In the afternoon, I got street food at a large outdoor stand. I ordered aloo paratha–flatbread stuffed with mashed potato and spices cooked on the griddle. It was very reminiscent of the street food I had on the morning of Day 3. Just like what I had on Day 3, it was served with a variety of some vegetables (cold) prepared in some sort of sauce, usually somewhat sour. Suffice it to stay, I stuck mostly with the bread.
I had a late train to Delhi. So after my day of sightseeing was over, I had a leisurely dinner at the hotel in Agra. I started off with chicken tikka tandoori–chunks of chicken marinated in spices and yogurt, then grilled. Mmmmm. It’s like Indian chicken McNuggets!
I had a side order of spicy veggie pulao (rice pilaf.)
Between the tikka and the pulao, this is the kind of Indian food that I could get used to! Oh, I almost forgot, for dessert I snacked on kulfi, Indian ice cream on a stick. On Day 7, I couldn’t go wrong!
