Having wrapped up my sightseeing in Rishikesh, it was time for a snack at the fabulous Ganga Kinare hotel before heading to my next destination. (Of course, I never made it to my next destination.) A slice of apple pie sounded really good, but they were out. A brownie with ice cream was a more than reasonable substitute.
I quenched my thirst with a mock mojito. I was a little nervous about the ice cubes. The waiter assured me they were made from purified water. Cool!
That night in Haridwar, I was surprised by how good the food was at the hotel restaurant. I got mushroom tikka (“button mushroom marinated in yoghurt spices, grilled in clay oven, served with mint sauce”)–sorry no picture. And I got talumein soup–vegetable noodle soup with soy sauce. Haridwar is a holy city like Rishikesh, so everything as vegetarian by law as well.
Mmm mmm good!
