If you forced me to choose, I’d have to say that my day at Taroko National Park was the highlight of my trip to Taiwan. But there were plenty of highlights within Taipei itself. (And that’s without even mentioning the fabulous Taiwanese food!)
Must-Sees in Taipei
1. Yangmingshan National Park
I had to travel to the far side of Taiwan to visit Taroko National Park. But I didn’t have to leave Taipei to take in the fascinating natural beauty of Yangmingshan National Park.

2. Maokong Gondola
Okay, I didn’t actually get to ride the Maokong Gondola because of inclement weather. That was really disappointing for me because it sounded like a beautiful ride to some very interesting places. So it’s a must-see for you so that you can ride it, take fabulous pictures, and show me what I missed!

3. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
I went to 3 changing-of-the-guard ceremonies in Taipei. If you only go to 1, you might as well go to the one at the building that is the possibly Taiwan’s most iconic building. It’s the shrine to the Generalissimo.

4. Lungshan Temple
Taipei has a few noteworthy temples. Taipei Confucius Temple and Dalongdong Baoan Temple are conveniently located across the street from each other. But none was more ornate that Lungshan Temple.

5. National Palace Museum
You might remember that I didn’t enjoy my visit to the National Palace Museum. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s a stunning collection of Chinese artefacts.

Oh, and did I mention the tasty Taiwanese food?
