Day 3 was my only full day in Truckee. So I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. And let me tell you, it was good.
Yup, another day, another omelet. (Maybe on 1 trip I’ll do away with all pretenses and just get omelets for breakfast every day.) This time is was the Very Veggie omelet. Zucchini, carrots, celery, mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, and onions, topped with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese and alfalfa sprouts. I mean, why wouldn’t I get this?
Towards the end of my walking tour of Truckee, I stopped in the Truckee Hotel for lunch. I got something a little out of the ordinary, for me anyway–watermelon salad. My preferred form of watermelon is watermelon Jolly Rancher candies. But I decided to go for watermelon in its natural state at this moment in time. The salad came with baby kale, pickled grapes, shaved fennel, feta, and strawberry vinaigrette. (It should come as no surprise that I told them to hold the toasted walnut.) Pretty colorful, isn’t it!
Alright, it’s dinner time in Truckee. I walked down the main strip and selected a place that looked good. I don’t know what to tell you, but it appears that I didn’t make note of what I had. I think it’s a pretty good guess that I started off with tomato soup. (It might be a wrong guess, but still a good one.)
And I think it’s pretty reasonable to say that for the main course, I had some sort of yummy-looking mac & cheese. Looks pretty hearty.
Based on these pictures, I think it’s fair to say that if you come to Truckee for the food alone, you won’t be disappointed.
