On Day 2, I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Haight-Ashbury. All of it on Haight Street, now that I think about it. And all of it, really good!
Breakfast was at the Pork Street Cafe. No pork for me of course I only eat red meat when I’m traveling overseas. So instead, I got chicken apple sausage with scrambled eggs, hash browned potatoes, and toast. So far, so good.
You might remember I had lunch at Cha Cha Cha. I had Cajun shrimp sautéed in a spicy cream sauce. It was good although it was a fairly small serving. But that’s okay…
Because after lunch, it was time for ice cream! Tres leches cake. Très delicious!
After traipsing around San Francisco’s hills, I took the bus back to Haight-Ashbury for dinner at Magnolia Gastropub & Brewery. It was as hipsterish as the name might suggest. But it was phenomenal. I started with a salad of field greens, pickled shallot, cherry tomatoes, and feta. It was as good as it looks.
The main course was pan-seared California halibut, roasted corn, and cherry tomatoes (again) in a caper & lemon butter sauce. Wait, is that spätzle on the menu? You bet I had a side of caraway spätzle!
Dessert was rhubarb & strawberry cobbler.
I won’t blame you if you’re a little jealous.
