On Day 3 of the 2016 season, I was supposed to have breakfast at Brainwash, a combo café/laundromat. When I got there, I was annoyed because the kitchen was closed. I went somewhere else and ended up having a fabulous breakfast. Well, I went back on Day 4 of the 2017 season when the kitchen was open. The breakfast I got was good, but still not as good as the breakfast I ended up getting that day in 2017!
But it was still pretty good. I got cinnamon French toast made with sweet cinnamon brioche, with a side of turkey sausage. And with that, I was ready to start the day.
I had lunch at the café at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. I got the traditional Jewish specialty, Chinese chicken salad. Well hey, it was kosher!
In the afternoon, I stopped for ice cream at a spot especially known for its variations on vanilla. So what did I get? Oh I did bad with the notes again. But I assure you it was something mildly exotic and wildly delicious.
At the end of the day, my friend Bill and I went to a somewhat hipsterish place in the Mission District. Unfortunately, by that point I had a blinding migraine headache; and stupidly, I didn’t have my medicine on me. I got macaroni and cheese because I figured it would be the easiest thing to eat. (Fortunately, I love macaroni and cheese.) It was delicious and I did my best to enjoy it. It looks great, doesn’t it!I had to leave dinner early because I was feeling like hell. But it doesn’t matter. I’m filled with memories of another fantastic day in San Francisco!
