Before taking off for Aranjuez, I had a snack at a fast-food café in Madrid–a yogurt and berry muffin and a berry smoothie. Berry good! (Yes, I went there.)
I managed to get through Day 2 without a solitary croquette. How long could I be expected to go? I started off lunch on Day 3 with Grandma’s Famous Ham Croquettes. That golden crispiness is making my mouth water as I type.
For the main course, I got Butterfly-Filleted Sea Bass with Garlic and Pepper Sauce. I don’t usually go for a whole fish (it’s so much work), but the description sounded too good to pass up.
That night, on the train from Madrid to Valencia, I got my 1st Spanish omelet of the trip. Known as tortilla in Spain, it’s a potato omelet. Even for train food, it was quite good. How cute that a “Special Crunchy Bread for Tapas” came on the side.
